  • Masters Degree in Education

  • Certified, specialized Orton-Gillingham instructor

  • Over 30+ years of teaching experience

Hello, my name is Sherri Chambers, Director of Design Tutoring Services.

Teaching is not only my chosen career path, but also my passion. I worked in school systems for several years teaching phonics and reading intervention, partIcularly to elementary students. I became Director of a private school tutoring department for K-12, while also assisting homeschool students with reading challenges. Design Tutoring Services was created during that time.

I heard about the success that many teachers were having with Orton-Gillingham methodology, helping students with reading disabilities such as dyslexia, ADHD, Tracking Issues, Dysgraphia, Autism and more. I decided to further my education and took courses beyond my Bachelor and Masters degrees to learn to use the multi-sensory Orton-Gillingham approach.

After adding this expertise to my toolkit, I have witnessed Orton-Gillingham and Cumulative Learning change the lives of my over 100+ Design students, some of which were students of Design Online from Elementary up to High School graduation. I take parents entrusting me with their child’s learning as a very precious responsibility. I wholeheartedly believe in this learning approach and am proud to have adopted it into my own teaching technique.

Having helped so many local students in my office and home, I realized that there were students across a larger geographical area desperately needing the individualized structured literacy reading intervention that I had successfully been using. I developed unique ways to bring my services online, to reach even more students successfully with internet based multi-sensory learning through Design Online.

I have been married to my husband Chet for 34 years, and he helps work behind the scenes of Design Online. We have one daughter named Hunter, her husband Kamryn, 4 beautiful fur-baby granddaughters, and one handsome fur-baby grandson. I was born and raised in Northeast Indiana and spent the majority of my life there. Now, we are currently residing in central Kentucky. Outside of my career , you will find me spending time with my family, participating in my church community, and maybe casting out a fishing line here and there.
