Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Where do we start, and how does pricing work?

Answer: To begin, we'll schedule two 1-hour assessment sessions at $60 each for your student so that we can start at the best level for each individual. Following the assessment, there will be a 30 minute parent-teacher meeting at no additional cost to discuss your child's results and to begin a personalized roadmap to success. Each academic success program is a 10 week block of 2 sessions per week, totaling 20 sessions. Each 10 week program is the equivalent of $60 per 50 minute session, a total of $1200 to register your child. Many families may qualify for an installment plan.

Question: Are there any additional materials we have to purchase?

Answer: Yes, one item that is required is a 6x10 digital pen tablet. You can find these on Amazon for around $50.

Ask us for recommendations if you are unsure. The other materials consist of school list basics, such as paper, red crayons, cardstock, scissors, glue, etc. All of these items contribute to the multi-sensory learning experience. We will send you a full individualized list when you're ready to get started.

Question: Are there notable differences in learning online versus in person?

Answer: For over a decade, Design's transition into an online learning program has produced effective results. Everything in today's world has become computer-driven, from early learning to careers in adulthood. Using a computer and other digital tools adds yet another element of tactile experience in multi-sensory learning, along with audio and visual. Being online has proven to be a positive learning environment, not a detractor.

Question: How soon will we be able to see results?

Answer: No two students are the same, therefore no answer can be definite. Orton-Gillingham is a cumulative method of learning. Students do not move on to a new concept until the previous one is mastered. Significant progress usually requires multiple semesters of learning and consistency. Your child's journey will be unique, and there is no quick fix route to literacy mastery. In our experience, Design is successful and an effective way of individual learning that will produce results that last a lifetime!

Question: What are your areas of expertise?

Answer: Reading, phonics, spelling, grammar, comprehension, language arts, writing, and anything associated with it! We have a lot of experience teaching these skills to students who need a different learning style than a classroom setting would typically offer.

Question: Do you refund or make up sessions that are missed?

Answer: We understand the curveballs life can throw at us. As long as there is 24 hour notice, your session will absolutely be able to be made up.
