What does a session with Design Online

look like?

Step 1

We will meet together using Zoom on your laptop/desktop computer. Within 15 minutes of your session, you will receive a Zoom link via e-mail for that specific session. Click the link and you'll be in our classroom!

Step 2

Building a relationship with your child is key. We will spend the first few minutes of your child's session talking about their school day and getting to know each other better. By developing that relationship, your child will gain trust, confidence, and be less afraid to make mistakes, resulting in a more effective learning experience. This also helps us find what learning styles work best with your student.

Step 3

Within your session, here's some examples what your child might experience:

  • Review of any homework given by your Design instructor

  • Use of a digital pen tablet and online whiteboard to write and draw for tactile experience

  • Learning to decode words into smaller parts and retain them through multiple multi-sensory tools such as movement, flashcards, letter tiles, pop blocks, etc.

  • Frequent reviews and tests of previous concepts

  • Interactive notebooks - creative memory aids

Step 4

Your child will receive various customized homework assignments to complete before the next session. Our preferred method to do homework is to print, adding another method of tactile experience. Once completed, e-mail a scan or photo of their work back to us before their session.

Your instructor will plan the roadmap for your next customized session based on cumulative learning. You as the parent will also receive periodic updates on your child's progress and areas of concern.
